Product Description
The largest and most familiar representative species of ants in Japan, the black ant is now presented as a highly detailed figure.
A model of a large worker ant of the size that is surprised even if you see it outdoors, compound eyes and body hair etc. are also reproduced in reality. The head, belly, chin and legs are also movable, and various poses are possible. The most distinctive feature of ants is the "family group". If you pose with 2 figures, you can enjoy the appearance like ants that communicate with each other. In addition, an egg that is indispensable for the "family" of ants is also included, so if you combine it, you can reproduce the life in the burrow of black ant.
It is one of the largest ants in Japan, with 18 mm for queen ants and 14 mm for large worker ants. It is widely distributed in Japan except the Amami and Okinawa regions, and it prefers to make nests in sunny open places from mountains to flatlands.
Although there is a difference in the size of worker ants from small to large head, there seems to be no clear division of roles of "large worker ants = soldier ants." Ants living in dark burrows communicate mainly by "smell" and "touch", distinguishing between their peers in the same burrow and caring for eggs and larvae. It is known that directions to the feeding grounds depend on smell and touch.
