The Ankylosaurus magniventris was not only the largest ankylosaurid, but also the largest of any known fully-armoured dinosaurs. It was equipped with heavy armour consisting of osteoderms, or scutes, embedded in the skin, and a huge tail club knob that would have primarily served as a defensive weapon.
