Product Description
The iconic "Gamera 1996" prototype by renowned sculptor Yuji Sakai is now available as a stunning, fully painted finished product, standing at approximately 32 cm tall. This detailed model is based on the original 20 cm soft vinyl kit from the 1996 Daiei (now KADOKAWA) film Gamera 2: Attack of the Legion, which became a beloved collector's item and still wows fans today.
Initially released as a garage kit, the "Gamera 1996" was crafted by Yuji Sakai after extensive research, including interviews on set with the filmmakers. His dedication led to an accurate and lifelike representation of the suit worn by Gamera in the film. Now, 29 years later, this legendary model has been reimagined with cutting-edge materials and techniques, under the full supervision of Yuji Sakai and the elite modeling team at Kaiyodo.
Using the latest 3D scanning technology, including CT scans, the original 1996 prototype was digitized, expanded, and meticulously re-sculpted. The figure's size was increased from 190 mm to 320 mm, and the mold was created using advanced 3D printing methods rather than traditional mass production techniques. This innovative approach reduces the deformation and shrinkage typical of soft vinyl products, ensuring exceptional accuracy and quality.
The model's coloring has also been carefully supervised by Sakai himself. Unlike traditional mass production processes, each piece is painted with the care and detail of a handcrafted work of art. The result is a beautifully detailed figure with a unique, one-of-a-kind finish, designed to capture the essence of the original Gamera character like never before.
